Terry Baker is the Costume Designer and Wardrobe Manager for Carolina Ballet, where he combines artistry, precision, and storytelling to bring each production to life. He earned his Master of Fine Arts in Costume Design from Southern Illinois University and has since built a career defined by craftsmanship, collaboration, and innovation.

Terry’s expertise spans every facet of costume production, including design—both digital and traditional—sewing, pattern making and draping, tailoring, costume crafts, and wardrobe management. His approach bridges the creative and the technical, ensuring that every costume supports both the performer’s movement and the emotional essence of the story.

Since joining Carolina Ballet in 2019, Terry has designed costumes for a wide range of productions, blending historical influence with contemporary flair. His designs for the reimagined Nutcracker, which premiered in December 2022, exemplify his ability to honor tradition while introducing fresh visual narratives that resonate with modern audiences.

Beyond the stage, Terry continues to explore new forms of creative expression through digital rendering and 3D fashion design. His current pursuits include the development of his own fashion and lifestyle brand—an endeavor that merges his foundation in fine craftsmanship with innovative digital techniques, reflecting his vision for the evolving relationship between performance, art, and design.
